As we all know I’m a big fan of PHPbay, especially with my new sites making $20 in less then two weeks. This doesn’t sound like a lot of money but for the sites that are BRAND NEW this is a pretty good return. This just goes to show that this traffic converts well, especially if you can find the right niches.

Anyway, I wanted to share a little tip that can really help you get a higher click-through-rate. When I say, CTR I mean more people clicking on the item and going to Ebay. The more people that go to Ebay through your referral link the higher the chances that you’ll collect a commission.

The old format of PHPbay from version 2.5 resembled an ebay auction. It could be argued that this is a good thing because it builds trust and the user knows how this auction works. However, I’m assuming that this would actually decrease conversions. Why? Well, most of the people searching for my products (thus far) have been very specific searches (long tail terms). Chances are this user has already been to ebay and looked at one of the auctions and is looking elsewhere. Would they be bothered to click on a link that looks like it’s going to take them back to ebay? Probably not. So what’s an affiliate to do?

PHPbay Version 3.0 now makes the auctions a lot more customizable and makes the items not look like ebay. This is a really good thing! However, I’ve done one more thing to customize one more thing to increase my CTR. I’ve added a “more details” link at the end of the item. See the updated look below.

Obviously you can change this to anything that you’d like. However, the basic principle is that you want to increase your CTR. By adding the ‘more details’ link at the end of the auction it makes them want to find out more details about the item. When they click that link they’ll get more information at ebay and the tracking cookie will be placed accordingly. The key to all of this is to just start making these sites though. The sooner you have a phpbay site the sooner you’ll start Making Money Online, guaranteed.
