It was a bit of a slow week for the PPC experiment. Apparently, ‘real’ life got in the way a bit. Oh well, hopefully that’ll calm down a bit (doubtful) and I can concentrate on the experiment.

This week I spent a good deal of time learning and reading more about PPC. Specifically on keyword research and structuring a PPC campaign correctly. Up to this date in the 1K experiment I simply created a list of about 100+ keywords and created three generic ads associated with those terms. Although, this method ‘can’ work it’s not the best solution (as I knew but just wanted to start testing).
After much reading I started to restructure my campaigns, however, this takes quite a bit of time. I have yet to get my campaign either structured or to a point that I’m happy about. Luckily, I think I understand the general principles better now so this week should be more productive.
Onto the profit or losses. I’ve now invested:
- Landing Page = $55 (From SiteStomp.com)
- Domain Name = $6.95 (From www.GoDaddy.com
)
- Site Hosting = $0.00 (Assuming zero as I’m already hosting 10+ domains on this host
- Wordze: $35
- Google Adwords (to date): $111.82
- MSN Adcenter: $6.82
- Total Cost: $215.64
While at the same time I’ve made a total of
- Three Week total: $78
- This weeks commission: $156
- Total Revenue: $234
This coming week I’ll be outsourcing the six articles to my content writer. I didn’t outsource the articles last week because I wanted to wait and be paid by Text-Link-Ads first. This works out well because I just signed up for PLRpro (which I’ll discuss in a future blog) and there are some articles that I think I can use for this blog.
I also plan to get my keywords added correctly into adwords and adcenter. I’d like to increase my money spent over at MSN as that traffic typically converts better then adwords. Finally, I plan to continue split-testing my ads. I’m sitting at around a 2% click-through rate (CTR) depending on the ad. I’d like to continue to move this up through various split tests.
