Well, it’s another Sunday and another week is over. Just to clarify I’m saying my ‘week’ ends on Saturday night. This week I started and finished another PHPbay site and it’s already making money. That’s really great news, however, that doesn’t relate to my $1k PPC experiment.  I won’t release the name of the PHPbay site for three months as a little test (or experiment) because I want to show that these sites can (and do) make money.

Back to the experiment to the regular scheduled program.   This week I purchased my first keyword research tool. What’s a keyword research tool you ask?

A keyword research tool is a tool that tracks all the searches and keywords that people are using to find specific products. The basic gist of it is I can type in a term that I’d like to bid (or rank well) for and the tool tells me the other terms that are related.  This helps to identify terms or ideas that I may not have thought of for my site (s).   I’ve already used the tool on my new phpbay site and I hope to get some extra traffic from these terms.

Anyway, I purchased WordZe. Why Wordze? Well, it was recommended by a couple of different bloggers, specifically Derek at Click Consultants and Earners Blog. If these bloggers use and recommend this tool then that’s good enough for me. Plus, this tool is one of the cheapest on the web (Wordtracker is $59/month and keyword spy is $ 89.95/month).

I’ve also setup a blog that is associated with this PPC site.  The blog’s aim is to increase the quality score (google’s ranking system) of the site.  I’ll be doing reviews of various related products and with each product providing an affiliate link.  I hope that this will generate some organic (free) traffic to this site and potentially create sales.  As I don’t have the expertise in this field (nor the time) I’ll be outsourcing the articles.  I have an article writer that is able to provide a brief article that I can supplement, add pictures, links and post it to the blog.

Onto the profit or losses.   I’ve now invested:

  • Landing Page = $55 (From SiteStomp.com)
  • Domain Name = $6.95 (From www.GoDaddy.com )
  • Site Hosting = $0.00 (Assuming zero as I’m already hosting 10+ domains on this host
  • Wordze: $35
  • Google Adwords (to date): $63.48
  • MSN Adcenter: $5.32
  • Total Cost: $165.75

While at the same time I’ve made a total of

  • Two Week total: $26
  • This weeks commission: $78
  • Total Revenue: $104.

As we can see I’m still down approximately $60 for my $1K experiment. However, I still have well over $800 to work with and my initial purchases should be finished.  I think that I’m well on track at this point.

This weeks main goals are the following:

  • Outsource 6 articles on various products related to my niche
  • Expand my keyword list (using Wordze)
  •  Optimize my campaign structure using Efficient PPC (grouping keywords and ads more efficiently).

I’m going to get back to regular blogging here at blog4money.ca.  Sorry for the brief delay.
