Just a quick reminder that you should backup your blog before it’s too late. Yes, some hosting companies have a backed up copy on their server. However, that’s not a chance you want to take. I’ve been lucky that my hosting company (AnHosting) did have a backup copy once.

It’s a good idea to back-up your data at least once a month and more if you’re posting more. So here’s how to backup your blog (it’s really quite easy and should take less then 5 minutes).

  1. Log into your control panel - (http://www.example.com/cpanel)
  2. Find where it says databases
  3. Click phpMyAdmin
  4. Now you should be able to find an ‘export’ link. Click that. This should bring up all your databases (if you have more then one).
  5. You want to ensure the following things are checked or selected.
  • SQL
  • Structure
  • Add DROP TABLE
  • Add AUTO_INCREMENT value
  • Enclose table and field names with backquotes
  • Data
  • Save as file

Remember, in the blogging world your writing (or posts) is your money maker. Lose your posts and lose your income stream. Now go and backup.
