Just a quick reminder that you should backup your blog before it’s too late. Yes, some hosting companies have a backed up copy on their server. However, that’s not a chance you want to take. I’ve been lucky that my hosting company (AnHosting) did have a backup copy once.
It’s a good idea to back-up your data at least once a month and more if you’re posting more. So here’s how to backup your blog (it’s really quite easy and should take less then 5 minutes).
- Log into your control panel - (http://www.example.com/cpanel)
- Find where it says databases
- Click phpMyAdmin
- Now you should be able to find an ‘export’ link. Click that. This should bring up all your databases (if you have more then one).
- You want to ensure the following things are checked or selected.
- SQL
- Structure
- Add DROP TABLE
- Add AUTO_INCREMENT value
- Enclose table and field names with backquotes
- Data
- Save as file
Remember, in the blogging world your writing (or posts) is your money maker. Lose your posts and lose your income stream. Now go and backup.
