So you want to start a blog but you’re worried about the costs or the technical requirements. Well, have no fear here is the break down of the costs associated with starting a blog that will make you money. If you have any problems figuring out the technical requirements send me off an email.
These costs are all based on my experiences and shouldn’t be taken as ‘exact’ numbers. Although, if you’re paying significantly more then these numbers you may want to look elsewhere.
- Web Domain (Name of your site) - $9.95 from www.GoDaddy.com
- Website Hosting (Place to store / hold your website) - $6.95 / month = $83.40 from AN Hosting or Hostgator or HostPapa
That’s it. Total cost of $93.95!
If you really can’t afford the $93.95 then you can also get a free domain and hosting service at wordpress, blogger or typepad. However, these are never as good as hosting your own site for a few reasons.
- You don’t own the information you place on these sites
- You can’t install any neat add-ons
- If you ever try to sell your site you won’t get as much money for your site
- Having a monetary value associated with a project helps to ensure success
The biggest cost associated with blogging for money is time. It won’t cost you a lot of time but committing between 30minutes - 1 hour a night is usually recommended.
How much time do you spend on the couch watching TV? More then that almost guaranteed. What if you spent that time writing a blog, collecting backlinks or adding ads to your blog. You could set up a perpetual passive income!
