Commission Junction (CJ) is one of (if not) the largest affiliate network on the internet. An affiliate network, as we know, is a network that has a network of merchants. Depending on which affiliate network you choose the merchants can vary widely. CJ has one of the largest selection of merchants to choose from on the internet internet. With CJ you can promote anything and everything from Funny T-Shirts to Mac Accessories
to Expedia
products. It is really that wide.
You can simply join. If you have a fairly new site then you might not get approved for some merchants. If you’re a new blog then you should write a detailed review of your goals of the site.
Pros
- Most Merchants - CJ really does have the most merchants on the internet. You can literally find almost anything you’re looking to sell.
- Fast Payouts - I’ve never had a problem having receiving any payment from CJ.
Cons
- No Affiliate Manager - Many other affiliate programs dedicate an affiliate manager to a specific affiliate. These affiliate managers are there to help you make more sales. At CJ they don’t provide affiliate managers.
- DataFeeds - This is a bit of an advanced topic, which I’ll discuss in due time. However, datafeed’s are something that you might consider eventually. Anyway, getting access to a specific merchants datafeed is a bit of a pain with CJ.
- No Real Time tracking - Many affiliates need their stats updated in real-time. You probably don’t need real-time tracking (yet) so don’t worry about this one.
You’ll probably hear that CJ is a bad affiliate on some forums online. Some people go as far as saying to not advertise their merchants. The fact of the matter is that CJ has the most merchants to choose from on the internet. It’s almost impossible to not find the product you’re looking to promote on Commission Junction.
