Another method to monetize your site is through Referral links. Referral links are links that you put on your site that when clicked you receive a commission if they buy a product. This is also called Cost Per Action (CPA). CPA usually accounts for large profits sporadically. For example, if I put a credit card link on my site as the one below for airmiles when this is clicked and someone signs up for a credit card then I receive a commission.

The downside of this method is that unless you have a rather large or active site the chance that you make a sale (or receive commission) everyday is low. However, when you do, it’ll be a significant amount compared to contextual based amounts.
There are quite a few major networks that you can sign-up to for CPA. These include, LinkShare, Commission Junction, Pepperjam Network
and Shareasale. All four have a LARGE amount of merchants to choose and have pros and cons, which I’ll cover in due time.
The best way to capitalize on this sort of revenue is to sign-up for all three networks. Then search through the networks for specific products or merchants that apply to your site DIRECTLY. If you have a kitchen site it doesn’t make sense for you to put an outdoor sports store on your site. It’d be much better to select kitchen based products.
These referral links to your site can be applied in either a banner (image format) or through text based links. For the most part text-based links tend to work better and are usually more heavily clicked. This is especially true if the links are directly related to the products.
So sign-up for the networks above and see if they have any merchants that are related to your blog content. Then start adding these links to your blog posts. In due time you’ll end up with quite a few of these links scattered throughout your site and you’ll end up making some CPA revenue.
