Once you have a domain name picked and you’ve registered it now you need a place to host it. A host is the place where all your data is actually store and is your server. So when someone goes to your webpage then the data they actually see is from your host.
What do you want in a host?
There are three keys to a good host: lowest percent downtime, customer service and price.
Lowest Percent Downtime
Downtime is the time where your server isn’t actually providing information. Ever been to a website and had nothing there and came back in an hour to find information? Well, that’s downtime! Downtime costs money. The more downtime the less time for people to click on your ads to make money.
Technical Support / Customer Service
You want a host with fast, responsive and accurate customer support. The better the customer support the easier your initial setup. I’ve actually deleted a webpage when I was with AN Hosting. They were able to grab a backed-up copy and restore my website. Now that’s good customer service!
Price
When you’re first starting out you should be looking for a host that is inexpensive, obviously. However, often people are over-paying for their hosting fees. Your host should cost between 5-8 dollars per month.
Some places that I’ve used or heard good things about are.
