What extension .com, .ca, .net, .org, etc….?
It doesn’t really matter what the extension of the URL is. That being said, it’s usually a good idea to grab the .com extension (if you can). This is because it’s easier to sell a .com blog (I’ll get to selling your blog in due time) then it is to sell a .net. Also, if you were to grab a .net domain name because the .com was gone. The person with a .com could try and replicate what you’ve done and capitalize on this traffic. So I like the ‘.com’ domain.
However, it’s also been said that having a ‘.ca’ (Canada) or ‘.au’ (Australia) or whatever country extension makes you more trusted in that country. I’m not exactly sure how true this is but as you can see I’ve grabbed a ‘.ca’ for this domain.
I have the EXAMPLE.com and see that EXAMPLE.net, EXAMPLE.org, EXAMPLE.info are available should I grab them?
Assuming that you’re just starting out it doesn’t really make sense to grab the other extensions. If you’re worried about people stealing those names then you’re worried about the wrong things. Let’s start blogging and making money before we invest too much into this domain. When your blog is starting to bring good real traffic and you’re making money then grabbing the other extensions would be a good idea (but definitely not necessary).
The key is to just get a domain so we can get to the next step of hosting your blog.
